Tropical Zouk from the French Antilles with Distant Rhythm

As said from My Analog Journal:
Tropical Zouk from the French Antilles with Distant Rhythm 🌴 DJ, radio presenter, and founder of London’s newest online record shop, Jamal Raouf, is a passionate traveler on an eternal journey to explore and share records from exotic places – he believes “…music is an unparalleled vessel through which we can experience and celebrate the diverse beauty of the world we live in.” His website focuses on mystical, tropical, and rhythmic records from the Caribbean, Africa, Brazil, India, Japan, and the Middle East – check it out, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
This episode showcases Zouk records from the French Antillean Islands of Haiti, Guadeloupe, and Martinique. The term originally referred to uplifting tropical parties which spanned long hot Caribbean nights, over time evolving into its own musical genre. Typically sung in creole with female vocals, it also features heavy synths, traditional percussion, and sophisticated drum programming; it’s vibrant, rhythmic, and utterly electrifying!
