The Rise Of Livestream Concerts During COVID-19
The modern age of COVID-19 has plagued across the globe, resulting in countless casualties, deaths, the closing of businesses, evictions, and much more. With no real-end in sight aside from a potential vaccine, we have adjusted and made this modern reality our new normal.
As sorrowful of a time we find ourselves in, it’s been fascinating to see how far people are willing to adapt and adjust their lives. More specifically, the music industry has greatly shifted live concerts into Livestream shows. Although the live feeling isn’t totally replicated through the screen with a Livestream, it’s something we can all enjoy as music fanatics.
The first streamed concert I remember from the early days of COVID-19 was Code Orange performing their latest record Underneath in its entirety on March 14th in Pittsburgh. It was surreal watching an intense and brutal live performance in front of a completely empty crowd.
Whether or not Code Orange’s performance influenced countless other artists to perform via the internet is difficult to determine. Obviously, it seems they started the trend, but artists alike would’ve most likely dove into the Livestream realm at some point during this.
Where to Watch Livestream Concerts
For the most part, you’ll be well-aware if one of your favorite artists is doing a Livestream or not. Considering it’s practically the only activity they’ll be able to do besides recording/releasing music or selling new merch, it’s an interesting element during this weird age we find ourselves in.
However, if you’re looking for a general list of upcoming Livestream concerts, check out JamBase. JamBase is an interesting site that has compiled countless concerts that are available to stream with an easy-to-access calendar. Keep in mind, some concerts are available to stream, whereas others have a fee like a standard concert.
No matter what the case might be, Livestreams are a moderate replacement for those of us who miss live shows. Again, they don’t replicate the true feeling of being at a live concert, but who cares? At this point, the vast majority of us music fans are in dire need of any inkling of a live show.
