New Music Releases – August 10th to 16th, 2020
A new week has gone by, which means another onslaught of new music has spawned into reality. This past week had a lot of great tracks from some of my favorite groups, which always adds a bit of brightness to my life.
It’s interesting to see the days go by and age into an evergrowing tone of coming closer to being underground. As much of an emo sad-boy that makes me sound, who cares. I’m relatively happy and am chugging along, that’s all that matters.
Nevertheless, as always with New Music Releases, if you’re interested in listening to or purchasing one of the songs or albums listed below, click on the title of one for a direct link to Amazon.
My favorite Buffalo punk group is back with their second track in a week titled Look at the Mess We Made. Melancholy lyrics filled with an anthemic hook, what more could you want?
Model Village is a classic sounding IDLES track with a simple guitar-driven riff with shouting vocals. I love IDLES and you should too.
Amber Bain, known as The Japanese House, is back with a four-track EP titled Chewing Cotton Wool. The EP is a fantastic indie-pop grouping of songs with a deeper sense of electronica, ambient tones, and catchy choruses.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are back with yet another prog-induced track titled Some Of Us. Aside from high vocal melodies, it’s a tune reminiscent of early work by Yes.
The vocal madman in Matt Corby is back with an eerie and power-driven track with If I Never Say a Word. It’s a bit different than Corby’s previous work, but it’s an excellent change of pace.
Alternative and indie rock outfit Rich People recently dropped a full-length album titled Harmony. The record is a fairly big shift in sound for Rich People and that’s a good thing. Although the emo-filled early tracks of Rich People are great, Harmony is where Rich People has found their own sound.
Modern rock band Teenage Wrist released a grunge and melancholy inducing track titled Silverspoon. I absolutely love Teenage Wrist for their fuzz and dirt, on top of their lyrical motifs. Silverspoon is fantastic and the band’s entire discography is worth checking out.
