I Went to Maine
It feels good to be back home, but boy, do I miss exploring the great state of Maine. About a month or so ago, my friend Will and I decided to plan a trip to Maine for a few days, with the hope to explore Portland, Presque Isle, Bangor, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park. This past weekend, we finally went through with the trip and it couldn’t have been more of a blast.
The salt-infused air mixed with less light pollution and an overall sense of serene enjoyment levels created a memory that’ll last a lifetime. We began the trip with a long haul to Portland, getting there in the evening amidst roaring crowds partying throughout a Friday night. It was extremely stimulating, not knowing our way around town but a breath of fresh air with everything we explored.
We stay just outside of Portland and explored the city some more the following day, walking the entire city until our feet couldn’t go any longer. We headed to Bangor the next day, a city that had the polar opposite vibe of Portland; more relaxed and a place for retirement. It bored us a bit, but it promoted some level of calmness we desperately needed after being thrown into the beautifully tonic city of Portland.
Presque Isle was up next, a town far-north in Maine near the Canadian border. Not entirely sure why we ventured that far other than to say we were that north. Last but not least was Acadia National Park, a life-changing experience that gave us a level of euphoria we didn’t think was possible while climbing Cadillac Mountain. The night ended in Bar Habor, a place reminiscent of the town in Jaws.
We headed home the next day, and the entire experience felt like a dream. It was a constant exploration that allowed us to get more out of our day-to-day activities than what we were normally used to. I can’t wait to go back, especially so I can check out more book and record shops.
