Documenting America’s Underbelly – ALL GAS NO BRAKES
Listen, I know this is technically a music blog/website, but I haven’t written a non-music blog in a long time. Plus, who cares, I can write about whatever I want. Vice recently did a short documentary on ALL GAS NO BRAKES, an excellent YouTube and Patreon show featuring Andrew Callaghan as he captures the underbelly of American culture while crisscrossing the country in a rusty RV.
Callaghan primarily interviews people on the fringes of society, while the success of the show has made his appearance have a cult-like status. In the video, Vice meets up with Andrew and his crew in Sturgis, South Dakota for the annual motorcycle rally that took place during the pandemic to see how his content gets made.
ALL GAS NO BRAKES is my favorite show on YouTube, as I’ve been a fan of it since its inception. I love Callaghan’s humoristic approach to these underbelly stories while knowing when to take a more serious delivery such as his video on the Minnesota riots. If you know anything about my personality, you would know this is the perfect show for me. Definitely check it out.
