Buffalo Hardcore is Back
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the first Buffalo Hardcore show since the pandemic put a halt to everything last year. I wasn’t sure what to expect, given the natural anxiety of being out in public again, but this show blew my expectations away and will be a part of me for years to come. I still can’t fathom that concerts are actually back, but they are.
Located at an unmarked location deemed The Shop, the show began at 5 PM and featured Chango4, Smash ‘N’ Grab, Spacebound, Exhibition, Freak the Miighty, and Final Declaration. There were also DJ sets, food, and beverages, assuring everyone stays hydrated, full, and calm cool and collected on a hot summer day. The show itself felt like a massive family get-together of punk, hardcore, and hip hop—an entirely surreal moment and a breath of fresh air from such a devastating year and a half.
I enjoyed every act very much, and these particular underground shows are a representation of what music should be about; bringing people together from every walks of life to enjoy each other’s company and music as a whole. Although I’m not the most social type, I’ll be sure to attend the next Buffalo Hardcore show once it’s announced. If interested, be sure to follow Buffalo Hardcore for any updates regarding shows and new artists in the scene.
