Best Record Player Setup For Beginners

When I started collecting vinyl years ago, I needed clarification on where to begin with a record player setup. If you’re in a similar position, as a way to help, I figured I’d list what I feel is the best record player setup for beginners and isn’t the cheap all-in-one turntables that are advertised across the web. I’ll keep it straightforward and link to the turntable, speakers, and record storage.
It doesn’t require a preamp since the speakers are powered, is easy to put together, and still has great sound quality. I still have this build and got it for my partner Sydney when she wanted to dive into the world of vinyl as well. Of course, there are better record player set-ups out there, but this is a great place to start.
Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT

Audio-Technica is the standard for turntables, and the AT-LP60XBT is an introductory model that gets the job done. The turntable features a fully automatic operation with the two standard vinyl speeds of 33-1/3 rpm and 45 rpm. It has a redesigned tonearm base and headshell for improved tracking and reduced resonance.
Edifier R1280DB Powered Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers

I love these Edifier speakers because not only can they connect directly to the turntable since they’re powered (you won’t need a preamp), but they also have Bluetooth in case you want to play music from your phone. I go back and forth from digital to vinyl, and having versatile speakers like this is nice.
Record Album Storage Crate, Bamboo & Acrylic Vinyl Record Crate

There are many ways to store your records, and for beginners, it’s best to have a small record album storage crate like this. Eventually, you can upgrade to a full-blown cube shelf storage, but as long as you have a table for your turntable and another for your speakers, this is a great place to start.
Conclusion
I hope this best record player set up for beginners will help you begin your vinyl collection. There are plenty of great resources online that can further your knowledge on this—also, feel free to visit any of your local records stores to learn more. Most are more than willing to help.
